1/2 - 9" CASE SHOT (CANNON BALL) WITH SHOT AND MATRIX EXPOSED

THIS IS A SELDOM RECOVERED ITEM... APPX. ONE HALF OF A 9" CASE SHOT CONTAINING THE ORIGINAL 1" IRON SHOT (BALLS), SOME STILL EMBEDDED IN THE MATRIX MATERIAL. THE BALL WAS PROBABLY FIRED FROM A 9" DALGHREN SMOOTHBORE CANNON INTO THE VICKSBURG DEFENSES, WHERE I RECOVERED IT. I CANNOT BE SURE OF THE MATRIX MATERIAL, THOUGH IT IS PROBABLY SULPHUR OR ROSIN. ONE PHOTO BELOW SHOWS THE ARTIFACT WITH THE LOOSE SHOT (RECOVERED WITH THE ARTIFACT) LYING ATOP THE MATRIX MATERIAL, ANOTHER SHOWS THE LOOSE SHOT REMOVED, EXPOSING THE IRON SHOT STILL EMBEDDED IN THE MATRIX MATERIAL. THE FUSE HOLE HAS THREADS AND WOULD HAVE PROBABLY HAD ONE OF THE 10-SECOND BORMAN FUSES INSTALLED, THOUGH THERE ARE OTHER POSSIBILITIES. THIS RELIC WAS RECENTLY SOLD.

TOP-OF-THE-LINE 2011S VICKSBURG NATIONAL MILITARY PARK MEMORIAL SILVER QUARTERS - TOP GRADES

WE HAVE PURCHASED SEVERAL OF THESE SILVER QUARTERS GRADED AND ENCASED BY THE TOP TWO GRADERS OF COLLECTIBLE AND RARE COINS - PCGS AND NGC. THEY ARE GRADED PR70 (PROOF 70) AND SP70 (SPECIAL PROOF 70), EACH OF WHICH SIGNIFIES A "PERFECT" COIN. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OF THESE ARE OUT THERE, BUT "PERFECT" COINS ARE RARE IN THEMSELVES. COME BY AND TAKE A LOOK. 

WE ALSO HAVE A NUMBER OF THE LARGE 5-OUNCE VNMP SILVER COINS GRADED MS68 OR MS69 (MS = MINT STATE); THEY ARE ONLY TWO AND ONE POINTS FROM "PERFECT," RESPECTIVELY (MS70 = PERFECT). THE 5-OUNCE COINS GRADED MS70 ARE SCARCE AND ARE PRICED ACCORDINGLY. THAT'S WHY WE CHOSE 68 OR 69 GRADES.

THESE COINS ARE VERY COLLECTIBLE AND SHOULD ONLY INCREASE IN VALUE OVER THE YEARS. THEY MAKE GREAT GIFTS. LOCATED ON THE FIRST FLOOR.

We have nearly 4,000 square feet of space on our first floor, nearly 8,000 square feet on the second floor, for a total of almost 12,000 square feet of space devoted to all manner of antiques, collectibles, and souvenirs. You can wonder around our shop for hours.

We sell (and buy) coins, vintage currency, jewelry, Civil War and World Wars artifacts, glassware of every description, antique guns, swords, knives, (many) dug bottles, scarce and very rare first edition and signed books, antique furniture, clocks, artwork, photographs, postcards and trade cards and tokens, stained glass, vintage documents, antique tools, etc., etc.

Much of our merchandise comes from local estates and auctions, thus many items have a Mississippi or Louisiana connection.

If it's old and collectible, we love it.

We also have a large selection of stained glass. A few pieces can be seen in the photo below.
